BIOGAS FOR KIDS

Biogas is like a special kind of fuel. It’s a bit smelly, but instead of coming from deep in the ground like oil or coal, we make it from leftovers!

It’s a mix of different gases, but the most important one is methane, which is what we use for cooking or to make our houses warm.

Tiny Helper "Bacterias...."

The magic happens because of super tiny creatures called bacteria. These bacteria are like little eating machines that love munching on our old food scraps.

Think of them as little tummies – they eat up the food and turn it into something new!

The Biogas Kitchen

We build a special kitchen for these bacteria called a digester. It’s like a big closed container where it’s dark and there’s no air, just the perfect place for our hungry bacteria friends.

We feed all our old food waste to the bacteria in the digester. Think of it like a giant food party for bacteria!

Bacteria Burps to the Rescue!!!!!

As the bacteria munch away on all the delicious food, they start to get gassy, kind of like burping!

This burp-gas is what we call biogas. We collect the gas and use it to power things like stoves, heaters, and even some vehicles!

Why Is This So Cool?

Instead of throwing away food scraps and letting them get stinky in a landfill, we turn them into something useful.

Biogas is a clean type of energy – it helps us rely less on fuels that can be bad for the planet.

Plus, after the bacteria have finished their meal, we have leftover material that works like a great vitamin mix for plants.
