Our commitment to net zero by 2070
India has committed to net zero by 2070. We treat that as an operating deadline rather than a distant aspiration, with interim milestones we publish, miss publicly if we miss them, and report against every year.
Why a waste company is talking about warming
Organic waste rotting in an open landfill does not decompose politely. Without oxygen, under compacted layers of everything else, it produces methane and releases it straight to atmosphere.
Methane is roughly 80 times more potent than CO2 over a twenty-year horizon. That short horizon is exactly why it matters: cutting methane is the fastest lever available on near-term temperature, and landfilled organic waste is one of the largest single sources we can address with existing, unsubsidised technology.
Anaerobic digestion does not prevent that decomposition, it captures it. The same biology, in a sealed vessel, where the methane becomes fuel instead of forcing. Every tonne we process is a double benefit: emissions avoided at the landfill, and fossil fuel displaced at the burner.
Our pledge. Carbon-neutral operations across our own fleet, plants and offices by 2040, and a cumulative net-negative contribution well before 2070.
Warming potential of methane relative to CO2 over twenty years, which is why landfill gas is the urgent problem.
CO2e avoided across our installed base to date, calculated on a published methodology.
Share of Indian municipal solid waste that is wet and biodegradable: the addressable feedstock.
The path from here to 2070
Four checkpoints between today and the deadline. Each one is a number we can be held to, not a statement of intent.
63 plants deployed, telemetry on all of them
Complete instrumentation of the installed base so every tonne, cubic metre and avoided emission is measured rather than modelled. Baseline year for all reporting that follows.
500,000 tonnes processed annually
Roughly an eightfold increase on today throughput, driven by municipal cluster contracts and industrial installations. Fleet transition to CBG and electric collection vehicles begins in the same window.
Carbon-neutral operations
Scope 1 and 2 emissions across our own plants, fleet, workshops and offices reduced to net zero, powered by the gas and electricity our own installations generate, with residual emissions removed rather than offset on paper.
Cumulative net-negative contribution
Total CO2e avoided across every plant we have ever built exceeds every tonne we have ever emitted, including embodied carbon in construction.
Net zero, alongside the country
Full value-chain net zero including Scope 3: suppliers, contractors and logistics, contributing to the national commitment with infrastructure that was profitable long before the deadline arrived.
What the numbers look like today
Figures below cover our installed base to date and are recalculated at the close of each financial year.
Where the biogas ends up
Share of total energy output across the installed base, 96,400 MWh in total.
CO2e avoided since 2014
Renewable energy delivered
Leachate never generated
Biofertiliser returned to farmland
